Don’t Let FIFA Drop The Ball: FACEBOOK FIFA PETITION

In our unwavering effort to make sure FIFA don’t fall asleep (again!) on the issue of bringing their match adjudication into the 21st Century, with better technology to prevent their piss-poor refs’ performance, we’re pressing forward with our FIFA petition to act sooner rather than later on the issue.

Please help show your support to apply grassroots pressure on FIFA to not only discuss the use of Goal Line Technology/ Live Video Review, but set a CONCRETE GOAL to actually have it in use BEFORE the next World Cup in 2014.

As a suggestion, in the meantime, as a cheaper solution for this World Cup in South Africa: issue all your refs with Guide Dogs and white canes, at least that way the fans won’t go so crazy when they don’t SEE an obvious goal or off-side!

Show your support and join us on Facebook, and tell all your friends…!

WORLD CUP SOUTH AFRICA 2010: If there is anything to be learned from Sunday’s matches (England v Germany, and Argentina v Mexico) and as mentioned heavily by the commentators of both games, FIFA needs to stop just considering using Live Video Review to improve the ref’s decisions on important calls, but needs to just man up and IMPLEMENT technology that’s been used in almost every other sport out there, certainly for important international events like the World Cup!

I don’t think there’s a single English or Mexican fan that would not vote a resounding YES to improving the extremely poor refereeing abilities. If anybody else turned up to work and ‘fucked up’ like the refs in both of Sunday’s matches (and in others so far in this World Cup!) they would have been sacked. Imagine a doctor giving a wrong diagnosis, for example – the hospital would have been sued…!!!

FIFA, sort your act out. NOW!

It doesn’t have to be used in amateur games, league games, or anywhere else, but surely for INTERNATIONAL (and European) matches, it should not even come into question. If it’s a matter of cost, add a couple of quid to the tickets!

THE LADDZ, are keeping the “CHANT” Alive and starting a Facebook campaign to petition FIFA to get off their fat lardies and SORT IT OUT…!

World Cup: Neuer’s Confession (no Gestapo needed!)

This comment from German goal keeper, Maunuel Neuer, now has me fuming and is on my HIT LIST along with ass. ref. Jorge Larrionda:

“I didn’t react because I just wanted to concentrate on carrying on and making the game fast,” said Neuer, who plays for Schalke in the German Bundesliga. “I realized it was tight, but I was quite sure it was over the line. I think that perhaps the way I carried on so quickly fooled the referee and made him think it was not over.”

So, no Gestapo interrogation needed there. Why didn’t he have the INTEGRITY to fess up then and there…? If the German’s are happy to have won by… well… it’s as close to CHEATING as you can get, based on the above CONFESSION…! so be it, look where it got them the last time they tried to make up the rules in Europe?

The fact that Germany went on playing the advantage with 2 more goals cannot be considered due to the psychological advantage entering the second half one goal up creates.

I’m not happy with the German team, nor the ref’s WRONG decision. I rest my case.

The Three Lions hang their manes in shame, but not for the lack of support from the fans, and not for the want of VIDEO REFEREES NEEDED…!!!

If that bloody, foreign ref that disallowed a BLATANT equalizing goal from England is still alive, I’m sure his football career as a ref is over, or will be plagued with DEATH THREATS from now until his grave! It was downright disgraceful refereeing (especially when the ref in the Mex v Argentina game just ALLOWED an offside goal from Argentina!)

Certainly, these matches have great entertainment value and will be talked about for weeks to come.

England did well, coming back very strong after half time, but the younger, fitter, German squad capitalized on the ill-gotten 2-1 lead, and our veteran squad just couldn’t pull it together. It was nice to finally see Rooney actually playing football with his team mates this match, but sadly not enough.

ONLY ONE THING good can come of the England v Germany ref BLUNDER and the action from Mexico v Argentina going on right now: FIFA… sort your fucking refs out and get video coverage to stop FUCKING UP…!!!

I can read the headlines in the British papers now…

Cheers for keeping the England “Chant” alive and CHANTING LIKE AN ENGLISH FAN…

A much-anticipated ‘vengence’ match between arch rivals England and Germany scheduled later today. A young, tight German squad, eager to kick butt… a seasoned England team, slowly starting to play the sport of our homeland like it should be played.

Who will win today’s match?

Both teams are fairly well matched, with our Lads having a slight advantage. Let’s not bring up the fact that the last time the Germans went head to head with us in Africa, there were a few more ‘Panzers’ and their coach, Rommel, got his arse handed to him!

Will our valiant boys play like Spitfires and gun the Jerries down on the lush green grass of South Africa? Hopefully we’ll be promised as eventful a match as the US v Ghana battle yesterday. Mad Ant’s prediction…?

If you get yer “Chant” on early, get down the boozer, play CHANT LIKE AN ENGLISH FAN loud and proud, English-stylee, bug yer radio DJ, and blast yer favourite England song from the stereo… Mad Ant says, “2-1″ England wins and moves on to the next round.

As the tension mounts in South Africa, an incredible match today between Team USA and Ghana…! If there’s a single fingernail left in the entire United States, I’d be surprised.

In an unexpected half time interview, when questioned about the early Ghanan goal, US keeper, Tim Howard, is alledged to have said, “Well, I saw the F**K-F**K…!!!%#@!!#@ FUUUUUU-%&*$#@@@… and then I F*******K-F-kteeee-F&^%$$#@!!!”

True to form, though, team USA came back to equalize early in the second half. Any American that wasn’t previously a fan of soccer (football, to our European readers!) will undoubtedly be converted forever, if they were lucky enough to have seen today’s match. When it looked like it was headed into a penalty shoot-out, with Team USA holding their own, the second goal from Ghana knocked the plucky US spirit a little. But surely, with Independence Day just around the corner, the same never-say-die attitude Team USA is renowned for kept them going all the way to the final, final whistle.

So, sadly, we say cheerio to our cousins from across the Pond, and hope they will now stand shoulder to shoulder with the England fans and help chant the Laddz to victory against arch rivals Germany in tomorrow’s match…

…Remember, keep the “Chant” alive and continue to CHANT LIKE AN ENGLISH FAN…!

FINALLY boys…! A win and we stagger into the next round of the World Cup in South Africa. The same week the host nation rolled over to a crap French team… A little, spookily reminiscent of the old days of the British Empire, but let’s not go there! lol At least France is out already, nuff said.

Back to England… after a pretty disappointing start, there are signs that the England squad might actually start playing the game we invented, and play with some THREE LIONS pride. Let’s forget about all the bollox and politically correct bullshit, and get back to what’s really important: kicking the world’s arse and WINNING THE WORLD CUP.

Good chance that our worst nightmare will be repeated, and we’ll be facing Germany in the next round… hmmm… history repeating itself… going to battle against Germany…! lol Let’s f**king kick butt… pull together as a team… play strong, play with PASSION, the fans are chanting and cheering our national team on…

Sunday can’t come soon enough for this Expat footie fanatic.

Remember to keep yer “Chant” alive and “Chant Like an English Fan!”

We’re all still reeling… 1 – 1 final score… I think the Brazilian ref couldn’t wait to stop the painful game!

Am I the only one still feeling sick about Green’s “butterfingers’…?

The game started well, with it looking like all America was going to win was the toss, with England scoring an impressive early goal in the first 4 minutes!!! Then tragedy struck right before half-time… I can’t bear to write about the cock-up that will haunt Green’s career forever (unless England go on to finally win!)

A lack-lustre second half, with neither side really showing much spunk or passion, and obviously a very disappointing final result. For England to have any chance in future matches, especially against stronger and more experienced teams (seriously chaps, America…? It should have been a 2-0 walkover!) we have to start playing like a united force, not a bunch of glory-seekers… a little bit more teamwork and we’ll have some better footie as the weeks go on.

As to our World Record attempt… as disappointing as England’s effort on the pitch today: lack of manpower and ‘technical’ difficulties (including a person that shall remain nameless on our squad, but not Richard and Mad Ant) put a big spanner in the works of the attempt… falling rather short of our 1966 goal, so far, we’ve had reports back from a little under 100 pubs that could actually participate and play the track at half-time.

A BIG thank you to all the pubs that took part around the world. We made a valient attempt… not easy to pull off a new World Record at such short notice and with only a two-man team!

Looking forward to some excellent football over the coming weeks… and may the best team (England!) win…!!!

Who is Stephe Meloy?

Just like KFC and Coke (the drink, not the drug – although, we have been told that Coke and KFC is the diet of many rappers!) “Chant Like an English Fan” by The Laddz also has its “special” or “secret” ingredient: music producer Stephe Meloy. But who is he?

Stephe has been involved with the music business for a number of years. Although he is best known as a producer & multi-instrumentalist, he is also one of the founding members of funky urban act Nu-Future. Their first single ‘I Can’t Wait’ was released to critical acclaim on Warner Brothers in 2001 and garnered plays by Kiss FM’s EZ among others. Until recently they were managed by John Wadlow of Big Picture Management (X Manager of Seal and Heartless Crew amongst others).

Although a great idea is a good starting point for a musical project, these days it is not enough to make a new track successful. Even though most of the spotlight and public interest involved with The Laddz and their debut, World Cup song for England, “Chant Like an English Fan” usually goes to co-writers Anthony Donnelly and Richard Eyre, the real credit for pulling the whole project together has to go to Stephe Meloy. Having the skill and the patience to take a raw concept and diligently ‘cut and paste’ it together takes creativity and talent.

“He [Stephe] often takes a back seat when it comes to the limelight, which is a shame,” says Donnelly, “he makes stuff look so simple, we overlook his creative genius and industry knowledge.” This time around, with both Eyre and Donnelly expatriated to opposite ends of the globe, Stephe’s skills and involvement in the project have been especially noticed.

We just wanted to give this unsung hero a little bit of praise on our blog in the run-up to the kick-off of the World Cup 2010 in South Africa this year.

Well done Stephe Meloy for all you continue to do creatively, managerially, musically, and overall to keep this whole lark on track.

Cheers mate!

You can find out more about Stephe Meloy and what he can do for your musical project at his website:  www.stephemeloy.com
