Mad Ant’s England Car – share YOUR pic!

June 27, 2018

FINALLY… more people are starting to deck out their houses and cars with England flags! So we thought we’d share a pic of Mad Ant’s car…

Mad Ant's England Car

He’s not gone overboard this year, although he was going to get the whole car resprayed as an England flag – and might still do, if England win the World Cup! – but he checked the band’s royalty statement and there wasn’t enough dosh for a splosh!

Yes we know it’s a froggy-car (and we take the piss out of him for it!) but what affordable English cars are there out there that won’t break down?

He’ll be driving down to Cornwall from London today, so if you see his car (and it might have some more ‘bling’ on it) give him a honk and a wave!

Let’s get an ANTHEM FOR ENGLAND…!

Keep requesting CHANT LIKE AN ENGLISH FAN from your local radio station… Watch the video… and keep sharing and retweeting… COME ON ENGLAND…!

World Cup: FIFA Needs To Implement Use Of Live Video Review

June 28, 2010

Join our petition here: FACEBOOK FIFA PETITION

WORLD CUP SOUTH AFRICA 2010: If there is anything to be learned from Sunday’s matches (England v Germany, and Argentina v Mexico) and as mentioned heavily by the commentators of both games, FIFA needs to stop just considering using Live Video Review to improve the ref’s decisions on important calls, but needs to just man up and IMPLEMENT technology that’s been used in almost every other sport out there, certainly for important international events like the World Cup!

I don’t think there’s a single English or Mexican fan that would not vote a resounding YES to improving the extremely poor refereeing abilities. If anybody else turned up to work and ‘fucked up’ like the refs in both of Sunday’s matches (and in others so far in this World Cup!) they would have been sacked. Imagine a doctor giving a wrong diagnosis, for example – the hospital would have been sued…!!!

FIFA, sort your act out. NOW!

It doesn’t have to be used in amateur games, league games, or anywhere else, but surely for INTERNATIONAL (and European) matches, it should not even come into question. If it’s a matter of cost, add a couple of quid to the tickets!

THE LADDZ, are keeping the “CHANT” Alive and starting a Facebook campaign to petition FIFA to get off their fat lardies and SORT IT OUT…!

World Cup: England v Germany

June 27, 2010

A much-anticipated ‘vengence’ match between arch rivals England and Germany scheduled later today. A young, tight German squad, eager to kick butt… a seasoned England team, slowly starting to play the sport of our homeland like it should be played.

Who will win today’s match?

Both teams are fairly well matched, with our Lads having a slight advantage. Let’s not bring up the fact that the last time the Germans went head to head with us in Africa, there were a few more ‘Panzers’ and their coach, Rommel, got his arse handed to him!

Will our valiant boys play like Spitfires and gun the Jerries down on the lush green grass of South Africa? Hopefully we’ll be promised as eventful a match as the US v Ghana battle yesterday. Mad Ant’s prediction…?

If you get yer “Chant” on early, get down the boozer, play CHANT LIKE AN ENGLISH FAN loud and proud, English-stylee, bug yer radio DJ, and blast yer favourite England song from the stereo… Mad Ant says, “2-1” England wins and moves on to the next round.

World Cup: Team USA v Ghana June 26th

June 26, 2010

As the tension mounts in South Africa, an incredible match today between Team USA and Ghana…! If there’s a single fingernail left in the entire United States, I’d be surprised.

In an unexpected half time interview, when questioned about the early Ghanan goal, US keeper, Tim Howard, is alledged to have said, “Well, I saw the F**K-F**K…!!!%#@!!#@ FUUUUUU-%&*$#@@@… and then I F*******K-F-kteeee-F&^%$$#@!!!”

True to form, though, team USA came back to equalize early in the second half. Any American that wasn’t previously a fan of soccer (football, to our European readers!) will undoubtedly be converted forever, if they were lucky enough to have seen today’s match. When it looked like it was headed into a penalty shoot-out, with Team USA holding their own, the second goal from Ghana knocked the plucky US spirit a little. But surely, with Independence Day just around the corner, the same never-say-die attitude Team USA is renowned for kept them going all the way to the final, final whistle.

So, sadly, we say cheerio to our cousins from across the Pond, and hope they will now stand shoulder to shoulder with the England fans and help chant the Laddz to victory against arch rivals Germany in tomorrow’s match…

…Remember, keep the “Chant” alive and continue to CHANT LIKE AN ENGLISH FAN…!

World Cup: England v Slovania

June 24, 2010

FINALLY boys…! A win and we stagger into the next round of the World Cup in South Africa. The same week the host nation rolled over to a crap French team… A little, spookily reminiscent of the old days of the British Empire, but let’s not go there! lol At least France is out already, nuff said.

Back to England… after a pretty disappointing start, there are signs that the England squad might actually start playing the game we invented, and play with some THREE LIONS pride. Let’s forget about all the bollox and politically correct bullshit, and get back to what’s really important: kicking the world’s arse and WINNING THE WORLD CUP.

Good chance that our worst nightmare will be repeated, and we’ll be facing Germany in the next round… hmmm… history repeating itself… going to battle against Germany…! lol Let’s f**king kick butt… pull together as a team… play strong, play with PASSION, the fans are chanting and cheering our national team on…

Sunday can’t come soon enough for this Expat footie fanatic.

Remember to keep yer “Chant” alive and “Chant Like an English Fan!”

England Fan…?

May 29, 2010

Yeah, we know… and thanks (all 97 of you so far!) for pointing out the obviousness of our “mistake“: why is the song called “Chant Like an ENGLISH Fan” and not Chant like an England fan?

Bloody good question!

Want the answer? Really, want the answer…?

Well, we could come up with a very clever answer to solve the mystery… Did we do it on purpose…? Is it some big marketing gimmick…? Is the secret to the Universe locked inside…? Nah, actually it’s rather long and boring, but to satisfy the curiousity of our fans that asked… all NINETY-SEVEN of you… that rubbed our noses in it, proving once again that you don’t necessarily need to be smart to have a smash hit, we felt we owed an explanation.

When Mad Ant first came up with the concept, the song was headed in a totally differnt direction. We’ll let him explain it in his own words:

I’ve always tinkered with lyrics. When I first came to the US, it bugged me that EVERYBODY kept saying the obvious, “Wow, you’re not from round here, are you Australian?” So, in order to keep my sanity, I made up a song called “Talk Like An Englishman” to the tune of the Bangles’ 80s hit “Walk Like An Egyptian”. It was more along the lines ofa Monty Python-style piss-take of all the jolly foreigners that can’t speaky-da-Engleesh.

“When I shared the idea with Richard (Eyre), we both realized footie season was upon us, and it was time to do a World Cup song for shits and giggles. That was the beginning of “Chant”. I guess, what with all the other stuff going on (putting the band together, learning about the music business, getting in the studio, etc.) and being rather drunk for most of the project – apparently alcohol is a good catalyst for creativity – nobody realized or bothered to mention that we hadn’t changed the English part to England.”

Phew! Well, now you know…

Expat. Brits Attempt New World Record during World Cup 2010

May 27, 2010

*** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ***

London – World Cup 2010 fever is finally in the air. For two weeks at least, the world can forget about BP oil leaks, trouble in Korea and kick back to enjoy some edge-of-the-seat international football. One country – the birthplace of football – always tends to go OTT at this time of year: England. Since there’s no official World Cup Song from the England squad this year, the fans and supporters have released a massive 165 or more ‘unofficial’ Songs to cheer along the national team.

In an effort to stand out from the crowd, one such ‘unofficial’ England World Cup Song contender, “Chant Like an English Fan” by the Laddz, is trying something very different. The independent label behind the track, Bootlace Records, has decided to show the world exactly why the English are unique and can achieve the impossible. With under three weeks until kick off, the team are attempting to have their track played simultaneously at over 1966 pubs and sports venues in the UK and around the world during the half time break of the first England match against America on June 12th. As well as trying to set an ‘unofficial’ World Record with the attempt, they are also raising money for the British Legion.

The idea for the World Record attempt came after Alan Keegan agreed to play their song during half time earlier this year at Old Trafford during the Manchester United v Fulham match, where Man Utd won 4 – 0. “We thought, if ‘Chant’ really is a good omen like that, maybe it can help England bring the Cup back home this year,” said Donnelly. “Just like when we originally came up with the song idea, we thought, ‘How hard can it be to set a new World Record?’”

The expatriated song writing duo (Richard Eyre and Anthony Donnelly) have put a big dent in their target of 1966, and have over 536 different venues already willing to participate in their World Cup World Record stunt. Most of the locations signed up to participate so far are in the US and UK, although they also have pubs taking part in Hong Kong, Brazil, Spain, Australia and Italy. Although they are still a long way from their goal, they are optimistic that they will hit their target come June 12th.

“We’re only just starting to promote the event publicly,” said Eyre. “It’s incredible the help and support we’re getting from other Brits abroad that want to help out.” With no marketing budget and just a lot of hard work, the pair is working day and night via the internet and on the phone contacting as many new venues as possible.

Pubs wishing to participate can contact the Laddz at worldrecord@theladdz.com and the track “Chant Like an English Fan” can be heard on their website www.theladdz.com and will be available on download from itunes on May 31st. “For obvious reasons, we tried to get the Song played during the friendly against Egypt earlier this year, but the FA declined,” Donnelly said, glumly. “But the crowning glory of this whole event would be, if they’d agree to play it during the half time of the actual match in South Africa!”

Although Guinness World Records have declined to formally acknowledge this new World Record attempt, the team is optimistic that the event will be so large and gain so much publicity that it will eventually have to be acknowledged as a new World Record.

About: Bootlace Records is an independent record label co-owned and created by producer, Stephe Meloy, and co-writers Richard Eyre and Anthony Donnelly. They are the inspiration behind the Laddz and their debut World Cup England Song “Chant Like an English Fan”.  For more information, see www.theladdz.com or email them at worldrecord@theladdz.com

New World Record Attempt

May 25, 2010

Everybody knows the Brits are a bit crazy… and World Cup season brings out the best (or worst) in all of us. As if having over 165 ‘unofficial’ football supporters songs for the England squad this year was not crazy enough… Mad Ant and Richard of The Laddz have decided to try and pull off an IMPOSSIBLE new World Record attempt.

It’s SO CRAZY… the folks at Guinness aren’t pitching in (yet!) so we’re having to go it alone… So, we need YOUR HELP…!

WHAT WE’RE TRYING TO DO:

Already we have the support of about 600+ pubs in the UK and abroad (stretching from Australia to Brazil, and Spain to Hong Kong!) but that’s not enough…

We’re trying to have our song “Chant Like an English Fan” simultaneously played at over 1966 (a very good year for English football!) pubs in as many different countries as possible during the half time break of the England vs USA match on June 12th and donate ALL the procedes Bootlace Records makes to the British Legion.

 HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Helping is EASY… we have all the promotional material ready (posters, participation forms, press releases, etc.)… what we need your help in doing is:

  1. Spread the word! Twitter this event, Facebook it, Myspace it… send emails, call your radio station… whatever you can do!
  2. Get your local pub (or wherever you’re watching the England vs US match) to get involved – it’s great publicity for them, as it’s not every day you get to take part in a NEW World Record attempt.
  3. Tell any friends abroad about it, especially if they are British/ English.

All participating pubs/ venues get a FREE copy of our MP3 to play on the day and can use the event in ANY free publicity and promotion they want to do.

For more information, email us directly: ant@theladdz.com or richard@theladdz.com

Thank you so very much in advance for all your help!

Alcohol-based Diet

May 21, 2010

Since Mad Ant is still avidly sticking to his vow-of-silence re the last blog entry: https://chantlikeanenglishfan.wordpress.com/2010/05/13/world-cup-song-writer-takes-vow-of-silence/ he’s going a little stir-crazy, but it’s for a good cause, and he did come up with this incredible weight-loss diet based on drinking alcohol:

Mad Ant’s World Cup Alcohol-based Diet

NOTE: (for the sue-happy American readers) It is advisable NOT TO drive or operate heavy machinery whilst attempting this dietry program. Individual result may vary, always consult your physician before trying any dietry program.

Upon waking pour two double shots of your favourite spirit (liquor) and chase them down with either a large glass of wine or two pints of beer. Increase or decrease dosage as desired.

In the afternoon (preferrably before noon) consume at least two pints of beer, and wash down with two or more chasers of your choice. Beer may be substituted for wine, if preferred, and cocktails may also be utilized heavily.

Mid-afternoon (sometime before 5pm) repeat the earlier afternoon regimen.

Evening (any time after 5pm) rapidly consume at least one pint of beer or glass of wine, followed by any combination of cocktail, chaser, another beer, or favourite drink of the alcoholic nature. Continue drinking in a similar fashion until either:

A) you pass out

B) throw up

C) are kicked out of the drinking establishment for either A) or B) or it closes.

It is advisable, in case of option C) that you have a reserve dietry stock of sufficient dietry alcohol at home, and have a taxi cab number in speed dial.

You won’t necessarily lose any weight whilst attempting this diet, but most early test results showed all participants were too pissed to care!

Additionally, nobody likes to diet alone, so try where possible to encourage your other fat friends to join you in support. Failing that, most local pubs and drinking establishments have an anonymous club of clientelle that are secretly down the boozer ‘dieting’.

If your boss calls you to wonder where you are or why your work output has changed, promptly inform him that you are dieting and he should stop his prejudiced and “fattist” comments immediately, otherwise they shall be hearing from your (American) attorney forthwith.
