#ENGSWE All Eyes On Our Quarters…!

July 5, 2018

swedesHave you recovered from Tuesday’s game yet? Forget about nail-biting, I have no fingers left…!!! But we made it through and Saturday is only days away for the Quarter Final match with Sweden – the land of the vegetable nobody eats, and cars people don’t brag about in public.

Personally I think we are already through to the hard-earned semis…! Ooer!? When was the last time England had a semi…? I only think about semis when it’s the World Cup…!

Perhaps I should eat more Swedes… uh-o! Now it’s just getting silly innuendo time…!

#ItsComingHome Where’s Our World Cup Anthem…?

June 26, 2018

With anticipation rising higher than a tsunami for England’s stonking win against Belgium this Thursday (and we WILL win our group!) more and more people are – finally – getting into the patriotic, sporting spirit and getting behind our national team, but…

Where’s Our World Cup Anthem…?

There are some unofficial songs out there at least, and we’re pitching our old chestnut from back in 2006 out there, just ‘cos we think it’s the most catchy song in the running for the country’s favourite, and it doesn’t get boring! Might even remind you of the Bangles…! hehe

Sing it loud, sing it proud, chant it from the stands for ENGER-LAND…!

#WorldCup2018 England 2 Tunisia 1 – Chant it from the rooftops!

June 18, 2018

Well, most people didn’t have their hopes up for the England Squad, but how wrong they were!

CHANT LIKE AN ENGLISH FAN

What a stonking first match for England! They came out with fighting spirit, no nerves in sight. First goal almost within the first ten minutes really set the tune for the match… Sloppy refereeing missed much of the push-and-shove technique from Tunisia (which was ultimately their downfall!)… An unnecessary penalty equalized at half time, BUT… The Lions came back with avengence in the second half, and through pressure and persistence made it a cracking 2:1 finish to England…!!! Great play by Kane… a player to watch as the competition heats up.

The only thing that was missing admidst the fan-tastist chanting from the stands was to hear, “Ay-o whey-o, Chant Like An English Fan… Come An’ Score A Goal If Ye Think Ye Fast Engough!”

If you haven’t heard the song, have a listen via the link below:

#ChantEngland #WorldCup #WorldCup2018 “Chant Like An English Fan”

June 17, 2018

World Cup SongTomorrow (June 18th) the England squad gets to show their true colours in the world football arena in Russia. Do they have what it takes to prove our nation proud? Is the line-up going to be right? Will they get off to a good start?

IS ANYONE IN ENGLAND BEHIND THE TEAM?

With no ‘official’ song is it any wonder nobody is getting behind the game? Football songs and chants are part of the make up of the game. Over the years the whole ‘unofficial’ song for England was all part of the build-up to the World Cup, but this year… nada! Have the populace given up? Are we sick and tired of being lied to by politicians that promise the earth and deliver nothing? Has this apathy now seeped into sport? Has this lethargy seeped into the beautiful game of football? Do we really feel England has absolutely no hope of getting anywhere in the World Cup, so we’re not even going to bother getting behind the team and the flag and giving it large?

Well, we’re not giving up!

Even though the co-writer of this song, the late Richard Eyre, is now pushing up the daisies on the footie pitch, in HIS honour, we’ve re-released our stonking ‘toon’ to get the England fans in the mood, and you can hear it…

HERE

If ya like it, share it and get it played in the radio. If ya don’t like it, record yer own and get behind the England team.

Press Release: World Cup England “Chant” Sells 1 Million Copies!

April 1, 2010

*** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ***

London — With this years World Cup in South Africa only two months away and no official song from the England squad this year, the music scene has been awash with a record number of unofficial songs to encourage our national team this year. Even some celebrities have hopped onboard, with Rik Mayal’s “Noble England” probably the most notable.

What’s surprising this year, with England playing so well in the ‘friendlies’, is how well the underdog independent labels are doing with their songs. “Be The Best” by the Toyz have done extremely well by giving away 10,000 copies of their song with a new football game. Best of all – and most incredibly – a little-known London band, the Laddz, have shocked not only the British music industry, but have extremely strong sales around the world, topping the one million sales mark yesterday with their catchy and popular, “Chant Like an English Fan!”

Based on the tune to the amazing Bangles 80s hit, “Walk Like an Egyptian” (written by Liam Sternberg) but with amusing football-based lyrics (written by Richard Eyre and Anthony Donnelly) their debut track has taken the industry and the football world totally by storm.

“We couldn’t belive the news,” says Eyre. “When I got the call last night, I didn’t know what to say. We had an idea that the song would catch on, because it’s all a bit of fun really, but we had no idea!” Having missed out back in 2006, when the writing duo first put together the track, because of bad timing and other unrelated incidents, this is certainly an epic moment for the pair.

“Since we’d already put in the work on the track, this year we decided to just have some fun with it this time round,” states Donnelly, adding, “That’s probably why we also decided to see if this April Fool’s Day stunt would work…”

GOTCHA…!

Or did we? Thanks for taking this in good humour, and cheers for all the continued support. Keep following us on Twitter @theladdz and on Myspace http://myspace.com/theladdz
