#ItsComingHome Where’s Our World Cup Anthem…?

June 26, 2018

With anticipation rising higher than a tsunami for England’s stonking win against Belgium this Thursday (and we WILL win our group!) more and more people are – finally – getting into the patriotic, sporting spirit and getting behind our national team, but…

Where’s Our World Cup Anthem…?

There are some unofficial songs out there at least, and we’re pitching our old chestnut from back in 2006 out there, just ‘cos we think it’s the most catchy song in the running for the country’s favourite, and it doesn’t get boring! Might even remind you of the Bangles…! hehe

Sing it loud, sing it proud, chant it from the stands for ENGER-LAND…!

World Cup Song Writer Takes Vow-of-silence

May 13, 2010

The World Cup kick-off is just 30 days away now and golly things are getting tense. Will England finally bring the Cup back to the Land of Football? Anthony (“Mad Ant”) Donnelly, co-writer of our song for England, “Chant Like an English Fan” is taking no chances.

In honour of the game and in support of the England team, he’s taken a vow of silence – which started at midnight last night. Spokesperson for Mr Donnelly, Iva Loudvoice, read the following statement on his behalf:

“Thank you all for the wonderful support of our song for England, “Chant Like an English Fan”, you’ve all been wonderful. Every four years the world’s greatest football teams compete for the most coveted prize of all: The World Cup.

“This year is no exception, and England looks in tip-top form to do us all proud. In honour of our national team, I have sworn to take a vow-of-silence until England wins this year. I ask for your continued support and reach out to the girlfriends and wives of all the humble England supporters around the world and beg you to join me in my vow-of-silence so we can all finally enjoy some uninterupted football this time round!”

Well, there you have it… hopefully silence will reign in your household, so you can watch some quality football this year. Failing that, we find that masking tape works wonders too (especially, if applied during sleep!)

Thank you all so much for the continued AWESOME support of our corkin’ toon: Keep the “Chant” alive… and Chant Like an English Fan for the England squad this year!

Available from iTunes May 31st…

Chant Like a United Fan…!

March 13, 2010

Some exciting Barclays Premier League action promised tomorrow afternoon with the upcoming match between Manchester United and Fulham at Old Trafford. The Laddz have it on very good authority that Alan Keegan (http://www.alankeegan.co.uk/), the official compere at Old Trafford, will be giving “Chant Like an English Fan” a blast out to all the fans during half-time at the match.

“This is probably one of the greatest pre-birthday gifts I could ever have wished for,” beams Donnelly, co-writer of the song. “I won’t tell you how old I’ll be later this month, but it’s a bit of a milestone. I’m ecstatic at how well ‘Chant’ is being taking onboard by fans and supporters this year, it’s brilliant!”

Unfortunately our meagre marketing budget didn’t stetch far enough for tickets, but we hope at least some of the fans will catch on to the ‘Chantability’ of the track and adapt the chorus to a stand-stomping:

“Ay-oh whey-oh, ay-oh whey-oh… Chant like a United fan… come an’ score a goal, if you think you’re fast enough!”

We’d obviously love to hear some feedback from any die-hard Man Utd fans that are going to the match, to hear how the supporters reacted to the chant. Naturally a HUGE shout-out of thanks goes to Mr Keegan for plugging our track at such a large event.

Thank you very much, and United boys make us proud…!

World Cup 2010 England Song

January 31, 2010

The World Cup 2010 is rapidly upon us…

In time-honoured tradition, the London-based rockband, The Laddz, is rereleasing their 2006 debut track “Chant Like An English Fan” to help rally the England fans and spur the squad onto hopeful success this year.

With more time for preparation, marketing, and early promotion, they are hoping the Obama-strategy of leveraging the online community via Twitter, Facebook, WordPress, Myspace, and YouTube, amongst many other mediums will help boost their popularity and record sales.

“We got a lot of recognition back in 2006 for what we accomplished,” states Richard Eyre, co-writer and part of the trio behind the band. “Four years ago we knew practically nothing about the music business, but still got the track produced, promoted, a small feature on Channel Four TV, and radio airplay. We’re going into this World Cup with four years more experience.”

A catchy tune, parodying the Bangles’ track “Walk Like An Egyptian” but with footie-related lyrics and a more upbeat rock sound, readers can listen to the track via their myspace site (http://myspace.com/theladdz) New and old fans can follow the activity via Twitter (@theladdz), friend with then via Facebook, and follow this blog.

At this time, the band is looking for potential street team members to help spread the word locally. They are also looking for local UK clubs that would like to play the track at half-time. Interested parties should email Richard Eyre at goldenorchard@windowslive.com

Rock on England!
